Reflexology is based on the concept that our body contains vital energies that flow through various organs, glands, and tissues, to allow the body to exist in harmony and to allow for the optimal function of these systems.
Throughout our daily, and wildly busy, lives, these energy systems can become disconnected and thrown off, and as such may cause acute or chronic disruptions to our body's systems. This can show up in the body as chronic headaches, digestive dysfunction, allergies, painful menstrual cycles, amongst many others.
Reflexology does not aim to treat, fix, or diagnose medical conditions, but rather, aims to support the body's natural healing systems and restore the body to homeostasis.
In a reflexology session, the practitioner provides moderate-to-firm pressure to the feet and employs a variety of techniques to target various bodily systems and structures. Structures include the digestive tract, respiratory tract, endocrine system, neck, shoulder, arms, legs, spine, reproductive organs, etc.
After a reflexology session, the client can expect to feel a deep sense of relaxation and an improved stress level.
